Youth up for the cup - Change of venue

FC United’s under 18s team play away at Bury Amateurs this Sunday, 30 September, in the 1st round of the North West Youth Alliance Open Cup, k.o 2.30pm.

The game is now to be played at Albert Park, Great Clowes Street, Broughton, Salford M7 1LF

Last season, a group of fans arranged a coach trip to Liverpool to support the Youth team when they played Hunts Cross in their first cup campaign, but this year the team start much closer to home. Radcliffe is well known to many FC United fans and they may know a favourite pub or two en route to this ground. Bury Amateurs are new to the league and are in the division below us, currently in 3rd place.

Team News

Manager Chris Simms and his assistant Gus Wilson are still finalising their squad, so some youngsters on trial may be playing for their place as well as for glory in the cup. Unfortunately, Perry Johnson and Marcel Mckie will miss out on this game as they are injured, but Joe Halfpenny has recovered after a back injury incurred in last Sunday’s game needed a precautionary visit to hospital.

A couple of budding stars to watch out for each celebrated their 17th birthdays last week. You may have already seen goalkeeper Jake Edwards at first team games warming up with Sam Ashton and striker Saeed Ali featured in both Reserve and 1st team squads during pre-season.

Please note, if required extra time will be played followed by penalties.
