Match Report

The FC Utd U18’s moved into the second round of the open cup with a well deserved victory in a thrilling encounter against Bury Amateurs at Albert Park.

Both teams were clearly well up for the cup, with some good attacking play creating plenty of chances. Bury opened the scoring but FC quickly drew level through a smart finish from Seam Mills.

Captain Liam James then gave FC the lead after some good work by Vidal Mike. Bury fought their way back into the game and equalised with just 19 minutes of normal time left.

A rousing team talk by manager, Chris Simms, sent the FC lads into extra time full of confidence and that quickly paid off when Shaun Williams ran from deep to head just over the advancing Bury ’keeper.

Sean Mills grabbed his second and FC’s fourth just a few minutes later with a quick turn and shot from close range.

The remaining time was played out with FC never being able to fully relax with Bury constantly pushing forward.

An away trip to Altrincham now beckons for the U18’s as they aim to go all the way in the cup this season.
