FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 2 ALTRINCHAM FC u19s (Reds) 1
The FC United of Manchester Youth team maintained their 100% start to the new 2021-22 league season with this 2-1 National League u19 Alliance Division 'H' home league win against Altrincham FC u19s Reds on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the visitors who opened the scoring on 26 minutes from the penalty spot after Silas Itotayagbon had tripped an opponent just inside the area, JOEL TREVOR sending goalkeeper Lenny Fieldhouse the wrong way from the 12 yard mark.
Four minutes before half time, FC United drew level. Sandro Da Costa sent TAYLOR McDOWELL haring away down the left wing, and the FC United No. 9 advanced on goal before slotting the ball past Altrincham 'keeper Ryan Forde.
On 53 minutes, the Young Reds edged 2-1 in front. A through ball from substitute William Unsworth sent TAYLOR McDOWELL racing away again for another close range finish.
A 71st minute flare up saw the visitors' Eddie Igeze red carded, but as is often the way in team football, ten man Altrincham looked to be the better team in the final twenty minutes, and very nearly snatched a late equaliser in the first minute of time added on.
Home 'keeper Lenny Fieldhouse had made contact with an on-rushing Altrincham forward, but then guessed right to save Joel Trevor's resulting penalty kick.
FC United of Manchester Youth team are next in action on Wednesday 22nd September 2021 with an away match against Rochdale EDS team in Kirkby.
