FC United of Manchester Academy 'A' team's opening game in the Friday Friendly Development League saw the Young Reds go down to a 1-2 away defeat against a Manchester United Foundation XI at Eccles Sixth Form College on Friday afternoon.
After the home side had edged in front on 22 minutes, FC United might have equalised just nine minutes later, however George Kamara's spot kick failed to be converted.
Three minutes into the second half, the visitors did finally draw level through RENATO NEVES, but any hopes of grabbing an opening day win were extinguished on 71 minutes when the home side scored what proved to be the winner.
