The FC United of Manchester Youth team opened their 2021-22 pre-season campaign with a useful 2-1 home win against a Stockport County youth/academy XI on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Friday morning.
But it was the visitors who opened the scoring midway through the first half when FC United failed to properly clear their lines and USMAN CISSE took full advantage to give County a 24th minute lead.
On 41 minutes, FC United drew level. Taylor McDowell was fouled just outside the penalty area, and TOBY HUMPHRIES low free kick found the back of the net via the visiting 'keeper's fingertips.
On 62 minutes, FC United grabbed what proved to be the decider. Tom Woodall's lofted pass was well controlled by TAYLOR McDOWELL whose shot into the top corner gave the County net minder little chance.
And there might have been a third for FC United on 79 minutes after substitute Elias Green was impeded in the box, but Toby Humphries' spot kick was comfortably saved by the Stockport goalkeeper.
