CHORLEY FC BTEC TEAM ONE 2 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER ACADEMY 'A' TEAM 2
FC United of Manchester Academy 'A' team's opening match in the four team AoC Sport Summer Series Championship Group 1 competition saw the Young Reds take a point from a 2-2 draw against Chorley FC BTEC Team One at the Lancashire FA County ground in Leyland on Wednesday afternoon.
And it was the visitors who took an early lead on 10 minutes when KELVIN AMADO latched on to a back pass from a home defender, forcing the Chorley 'keeper into an error, and finding himself with an unguarded goal in front of him.
The lead, however, was short-lived as the home side grabbed an equaliser just four minutes later. A cross from the left found CALLUM McHALE unmarked in the six yard box, and Chorley BTEC were back on level terms.
On the stroke of half time, FC United restored their lead. A cross from the right from Yusuf Qudus found KELVIN AMADO well placed and the FC No. 9 made no mistake.
On 72 minutes, the visitors very nearly went 3-1 up. Kevin Zokou's 18 yard shot hit an upright before rebounding straight into the Chorley keeper's hands.
The miss was to prove costly when on 88 minutes, home full back LUKE PEMBERTON FORSHAW was allowed to run unchecked into the FC United penalty area before firing a low shot past 'keeper Josh Brooks for the equaliser.
The Young Reds will be slightly disappointed by the result and will no doubt be looking for improvement in their next outing.
