FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ team stay top of the ECFA/AoC North West Men’s Regional Invitation League (East) going into the Christmas and New Year holiday period following this 6-3 home win against Dragon Football Academy, Men’s 1sts on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

Christian Edokpayi was FC United’s in-form forward scoring five of the Young Reds’ six goals.

And they had to come back from behind after PANASHE MADAMBA had blasted home an opener for the visitors on 26 minutes.

On 40 minutes, FC United drew level when Favour Bolaji set up CHRISTIAN EDOKPAYI whose low shot entered the goal via an upright.

That made the score 1-1 at the half time interval.

Within 15 seconds of the restart, FC United edged in front when CHRISTIAN EDOKPAYI scored his second of the game, again via an upright.

And less than two minutes later, on 47 minutes, Kevin Zokou played in CHRISTIAN EDOKPAYI to complete his hat-trick with a shot from the narrowest of angles to make it 3-1.

Dragon Football Academy weren’t out of the contest yet , however, and on 63 minutes, MICHAEL TAIWO fired in a low shot that bamboozled Drayke Holland in the FC United goal to make the score 3-2.

And on 68 minutes, the visitors drew level when LEO KULIQI blasted home an effort from the edge of the area.

But any hopes of a comeback were extinguished within a minute when CHRISTIAN EDOKPAYI netted his fourth from close range on 69 minutes and then scored his fifth shortly afterwards on 72 minutes to put FC United 5-3 up with a lofted shot from the edge of the 18 yard box that gave the Dragon goalkeeper little chance.

With the clock running down, FC United substitute CONNOR McANDREW made sure of the destination of the three points on offer with the final goal of the game on 83 minutes to make the full time score 6-3.

After the holiday break, FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ team are next in action on Wednesday 22nd January 2020 in the last 32 of the AoC/ECFA Knockout Trophy competition. (Draw not yet made/announced).
