Last gasp FC United win five goal thriller at Stalybridge Celtic
FC United picked up three hard fought but deserved points at former landlords Stalybridge Celtic thanks to a last minute winner.

The game didn’t start well for the Reds when a free-kick was spilled by Paddy Wharton, Darius Osei was first to the loose ball and he rolled three ball in.

On six minutes Alex Curran ran the full length of the Celtic half and found space in the box, he shot was well saved by Alex Fojticek who is on loan from Manchester United. Fojticek was called into action again five minutes later, this time keeping out an Alex Babos volley. Wharton was in action at the other end saving from Craig Hobson and Osei.

Just before the half hour. Mike Potts saw a shot saved at the near post and right on half time Aaron Morris fired wide.

The second half started in a similar way with half chances at either end but it was the introduction of Paul Ennis that changed the game. On 56 minutes he played at superb ball through to Tunde Owolabi who took a touch and finished well into the far corner.

Ten minutes later FC took the lead when a poor back pass put Fojticek in trouble though he hesitated and allowed Owolabi in. He rounded the keeper but was forced wide, happily he was supported by Ennis who rolled the ball into the goal.

With nine minutes on the clock Celtic equalised when a free kick was headed in by Osei. FC pushed forward for the win, Curran seeing a cross deflected onto the post and sub Jack Lenehan heading just wide. Just as it looked like a point each, Ennis fired a free kick into the box that eluded everyone and flew into the far corner to take the the points back to Broadhurst Park.

Website man of the match: Luke Griffiths. Played the deep lying midfielder perfectly. Covered every blade of grass, broke up Celtic play and did the simple things to start FC attacks.
