FC United of Manchester Youth team’s final pre-season game of the 2019-2020 campaign saw them draw 1-1 with an Oldham Athletic Youth XI on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.
The visitors took the lead in bizarre fashion on 16 minutes. Goalkeeper Lenny Fieldhouse’s attempted clearance came back off Oldham Athletic’s JIMMY SIMMS’ head for a most unexpected opener.

On 52 minutes, goalkeeper Lenny Fieldhouse pulled off a fine double save to keep the Young Reds in the game.
Two minutes later, FC United drew level. Mason Beard sent over a pacey cross from the right which deflected off the near post before ISH JOBE headed home the rebound from point blank range.
With the clock ticking down, Mason Beard almost grabbed a late winner for FC United in the dying seconds, his shot going just wide by the narrowest of margins.
