LEWES FC 2 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER 1
FC United of Manchester narrowly went down 2-1 to BetVictor Isthmian League Premier outfit Lewes FC in an entertaining encounter at a sun-scorched Dripping Pan Ground in Saturday afternoon’s latest pre-season match.

The Rooks took the lead after just 15 minutes, as JORDY MONGOY outpaced a visiting defender before firing past Paddy Wharton into the bottom corner from just outside the area.

Lewes extended their lead on the half-hour mark through OLA ADEMAYO, who had time to bring down a Leon Redwood cross from the left before prodding the ball into the bottom corner from close range.

After the break and roared on by their impressive travelling support, FC United started to pose more of a threat as the second half progressed and were handed a route back into the game in the final 20 minutes, as Ross Barclay upended substitute DAVID MOLI just inside the area. LOUIS MYERS stepped up to send the Lewes substitute ’keeper the wrong way from the 12 yard spot.

It was mostly all FC United in the closing stages but they were just unable to grab what would have been a deserved equaliser.

The FC United of Manchester first team are back in action on Saturday 20th July 2019 when they host newly formed Welsh club Clwb Pel-Droed Bangor 1876 at Broadhurst Park (KO 3 pm).
