FC United drop to bottom place after defeat at Nuneaton Borough

FC United are bottom of the Vanarama National League North after being beaten 1-0 at Nuneaton Borough on Saturday afternoon with a scrappy goal deciding the match five minutes before fulltime.

The Boro leapfrogged the Reds off the bottom of the table with their second league win of the season courtesy of Enoch Andoh’s close range strike after some calamitous defending.

Even a this early stage of the season, it was a must win match for FC United. The Reds needed to prove that they are good enough to compete at this level and can take points off struggling teams. Unfortunately, they failed the test.

David Chadwick’s side looked reasonably comfortable but non-threatening throughout the match. However, just when it looked like they would have to settle for a point and a goalless draw, they were caught with a sucker punch.

Full report to follow.
