GATESHEAD FC YOUTH 1 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 4

The FC United of Manchester Youth team saved one of their best performances of the season in the National League u19 Alliance ’J’ Division for Wednesday afternoon’s long trip to the International Stadium and came away with a well-deserved 4-1 win against Gateshead FC Youth.

Despite going behind to a 14th minute penalty converted by Gateshead’s LEWIS McGEOCH, the visitors didn’t panic and equalised on 23 minutes when MAX LEWENS controlled a Jay Brennan right wing cross before steering the ball past the home goalkeeper.

On 43 minutes, Nelson Onwusiri’s through ball set up ELLIOT JORGE SIMOES INACIO who netted from close range to put FC United of Manchester in front, and then, on the stroke of half-time, MAX LEWENS took full advantage of a mix-up in the home defence to make it 3-1 at the interval.

A well placed HAYDON MOTTERSHEAD header from a Jay Brennan corner then put the visitors 4-1 ahead on 49 minutes and the Young Reds might even have added to this score line had not saves from Ross Logan in the Gateshead goal twice denied centre-back Artan Cobaj.

FC United of Manchester Youth complete their league programme on Wednesday 11th April 2018 with a home fixture vs Rochdale AFC Youth at Broadhurst Park 3G (KO 1 pm).
