December results and future dates
Despite the cold weather and various christmas parties going on this week, 10 people turned up to the Y Club for another night of relaxed poker.
There was a change in the league leader last night, after the top two players were out 1st and 2nd, just like their old league spots.
- Dominic M won the game taking top spot in the league off Mike P.
- Jon P came in second jumping up to 13th.
- Dennis S was third moving to the middle of the table in 15th.

Change of venue and organiser
This is an important update to the poker night venue and structure.
As many of you know, the poker nights used to be held at the Y Club in Castlefield, before moving to the Grosvenor Casino. Well now we are heading back to our roots. Dennis from the Y Club has invited us back to play poker in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, complete with great beer, food and poker chips that don't stick together, starting on Friday 25th November; this week.
When you arrive please enter the Y Club and ask for the hotel reception, where you should find fellow poker players waiting for the game to start.
Find the Y Club on google maps
Address: - Liverpool Road, Manchester M3 4JR
Website: - Castlefield hotel
Parking: -
Unfortunately the Y Club car park will close at 11pm so we cannot guarantee parking for anyone. Parking is free on the roads around the club from 8pm so people may have to pay a small price until 8pm. Alternatively, there is parking in the YHA next door, which is unofficial and at your own risk. However, many of the Y Club members have been parking there for months free of charge without any problems whatsoever.
Bar: -
There are several real ales available at the bar, which will be open for the whole of the evening. Everyone should congregate in the bar area before the start of the game and again afterwards, so that the winners can buy everyone a drink. (Not compulsory)
The schedule will remain the same: -
19:15 - Registration Opens
20:00 - Game starts
21:20 - Break for food
21:40 - Resume for the hard hitting poker rounds
00:00 - Finish, off to the bar!
Any late comers will be able to join the game up until 21:40, after the food break. The clock will start at 20:00 sharp, to ensure that we don't miss the food break!
The cost of the game will remain the same: -
£14 - To play
2 x £10 re-buy or add-on (optional)
The league standings are not affected by this change of venue, which you can see at http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/poker02.php?pokerpage=3
The only major change to the game is that we have to be finishing up around midnight. Recently the games at the casino have been finishing just before this time anyway, however if we have many more players we could start running over this limit. If we do get close to midnight and we are down the final 2 or 3 we will suggest that the pot be split, otherwise the blinds will start going up every 5 minutes. If by 00:20 we still don't have a winner, the pot will be split between the top 3 players. If there are more than 3 players still playing at this time, the top 3 players will be determined based on chip counts.
