Supporter Liaison Officer Appointed

Following an interview process which took place earlier this month, Ryan Williams has been appointed as FC United’s first-ever Supporter Liaison Officer.

The voluntary position, which is supported by UEFA and other associations including Supporters Direct, is an important link between a club and its fans. They ensure that fans with a close affinity to the club have the opportunity to contact the club, receive answers to questions and communicate any requests or concerns.

Ryan was interviewed by Club Secretary Lindsey Howard, FC Board member Des Lynch and Ben Shave of Supporters Direct, after applying for the role, which was advertised on the FC United website in February.

FC was looking for a Supporter Liaison Officer who could demonstrate a solid football background, a knowledge of our fan base, an affinity with and contact to key supporter networks (for example supporters branches, fans groups) and the ability to communicate, in particular in groups and in public. Ryan fitted the bill on all counts and was duly appointed to the role.

Commenting on his appointment, Ryan said: "I am delighted to have been given this opportunity. The role of the Supporter Liaison Officer in modern football can only be a good thing as many fans will have experienced the frustrations that can arise when a club doesn’t have an open dialogue with members and supporters.

I’m looking forward to working with fans from right across the FC supporter spectrum (members, volunteers, match-goers, international etc) and building on the great things we already do at FC."

Ryan will be attending the General Meeting this Sunday and can also be contacted by emailing supporterliaison@fc-utd.co.uk
