Statement re: removed story

Supporters will note that a statement appeared on our website on behalf of the NUT. This statement has now been removed, but the club would like to clarify matters.

The club were asked by some FCUM members to publicise the position and activities of the NUT on an issue that may resonate with some supporters. The statement was not drafted by FC United and was not intended to demonstrate a ’club position’ on the issue.

Nonetheless we accept that the message could be interpreted in this manner and be viewed as a political statement on behalf of FC United. As such, in that the political basis is not directly linked to football, it should not have appeared on our website.

We would stress that this is simply an error of judgement on our part and not part of any wider agenda.
