Singing with FC

FC United’s final home match of the season was graced by the presence of children from Ancoats, Beswick and Newton Heath who had participated in the Singing with FC United project.

The club worked with staff from the Manchester Music Service to go into schools and teach children the fans’ favourite songs.

The result was that on the day the children joined in enthusiastically with a number of songs including the classic, ‘He’s not from Gorton’, a song about FC’s leading goalscorer whom the children clapped eyes on for the first time that day.

The children also got a chance to sing their own versions of a number of songs for FCUM Radio.

Robin Pye, FC’s Community & Education Manager said, “The children got a lot more out of their match experience because they knew the words to the songs. We will be harnessing the power of music in future projects with this age group.???
