PLAYER NEWS: Dean Stott leaves FC United to sign for ColneFC United defender Dean Stott has signed for Colne FC, bringing down the curtain on a five year career with FC, during which he captained the side making 221 appearances and scoring 22 goals.

Stott made his debut for FC in the 2011/12 season when he played 54 matches for the Reds. He was a regular in the side for four seasons and this year has made 27 appearances for the club, which have taken him up to sixth place in the list of all-time FC United appearance makers.

A former club captain, Stott was just as effective in midfield or defence and was well known for taking a good penalty and picking up the odd booking in his time at FC. He also scored a memorable goal from nearly the half way line against Harrogate Town in the FA Trophy in 2014 that’s well worth another look.

Stott led by example on the pitch, was always fully committed and was a favourite with the United fans. Colne FC, who are chasing promotion in the North West Counties Football League Premier League, will be delighted to have signed a player with such a higher league pedigree.

Commenting on his departure from the club, FC United manager Karl Marginson, said: “Dean has been a great servant to the club over five years during which time he captained the side and was part of a very successful group of players. Everyone at FC wishes him good luck at Colne and all the best for the future.???
