New FC United website design to launch this weekend

The FC United web team are excited and proud to announce the latest iteration of the club’s website.

The reason for the new design was not just to make the website more presentable, it has also been done for a variety of reasons:

1) The current website was using an out-of-date version of a software language and the club was incurring extended support costs from our host provider, so the new website should save us some money.

2) The new website also addressed some concerns around web security.

3) More website visitors now view our pages via mobile phones or tablets than laptops and PCs. We felt our current site wasn’t the most user friendly when viewed on smaller devices and the new website should now work equally well on mobile phones, tablets, laptops and PCs.

So far in September we have had a total of 59,327 visits to our website - 27,193 on mobiles, 21,740 on desktop PCs / laptops and 10,394 on tablets, meaning the move to make our site more user-friendly to all devices was essential.

We will launch the new website on Saturday 23rd September in time for the home game against Tamworth on Sunday.

The work on changing over to the new website will start around 9pm tonight so there will be no access to the FC United website for a few hours from that time.
