New Appointments

New Appointments We are delighted to welcome Paul Smith as the club’s Operations Manager and David Kay as Community Development Officer - We’d also like to thank club member Mike Burtonwood who has kindly agreed to work on a voluntary basis on the Club’s commercial development and sponsorship.

Since Damian Chadwick’s departure at the end of August the Club has been without a CEO. This role was re-evaluated, and the advertised role was to focus more on the operation side of the business and less on sponsorship and marketing.

After a successful interview, Paul Smith has been appointed and will take up his post on 10th December. Paul has a strong background in financial management and managing budgets, and for the last 10 years has been running a business providing training and advice to sports organisations on growth, development and facilities management. He has also worked for a number of years as a Director for the charity Love Withington baths, set up to prevent the closure of the baths. He now has overall management of the facility.

Paul recognises that despite FC United’s achievements and successes, it is undergoing a challenging period, but acknowledged that the ethos and core principals of the club are to be admired. He said that the way we have engaged with the local community inspired the efforts to keep Withington baths open.

Since Paul’s role will focus more on the operational side of the business, club member Mike Burtonwood has agreed to step in and work on a voluntary basis on commercial development and sponsorship. This will be part time, supported by David French and Paul Edwards.

The Community Development role and Sport Development role which are funded by the Power to change grant for the next 12 months have been appointed. Tom Conroy is taking over the Sport Development side, and we are pleased to announce that working alongside him as Community Development officer is David Kay. David has been involved with North Manchester Community radio and Manchester Youth Zone in Harpurhey. And brings a wealth of experience to the post. He will join us on the 18th December on a part time basis and it is envisaged that this role will be self-funding after the initial 12 months.

We would like to wish them all the best in these new roles.
