MATCH PREVIEW: FC United v Curzon Ashton

MATCH PREVIEW: FC United v Curzon AshtonAfter two consecutive away games, FC are back at Broadhurst Park as we look to gain some momentum into the Christmas period when we take on local side Curzon Ashton.

It’s been a busy time for The Reds, as we have bolstered our squad with striker Chris Sharp from Stalybridge Celtic, who has proven experience at this level with the likes of Alfreton Town and Stockport County. This followed on from the signing of Caleb Richards from Norwich City on loan as the young left-back looks to stake a place in the side.

In our last game, The Reds fought valiantly but ultimately ended up on the wrong side of the result in a 2-0 losing effort against York City away from home which saw us fall into the relegation zone. The last home game for FC, saw us lose 2-1 against AFC Telford United.

Our form overall over the last five games have seen us pick up two wins and three defeats but a win against Curzon could see us move away from those relegation places.

As for our opponents, Curzon are currently 15th in the league having won five, drawn six and losing seven of their 18 games played. Curzon finished below us in the league last season ending the season in 18th place.

The Nash are under a new regime coming into this game as they parted company with their long serving manager Jon Flanagan and appointed Mark Bradshaw as first team manager, who had been at the club for ten years.

Their form coming into this game is mixed as over their last five games in all competitions they have won one game, drawn one and losing three. Their last win in the league came at home against AFC Telford United in a 2-1 win.

The top scorer for Curzon this season has been young midfielder Oliver Crankshaw. The young talent has five goals this season, which led to him having a trial at Championship club Wigan Athletic.
