Margy demands Manchester Premier Cup victory over Glossop North End

Margy demands Manchester Premier Cup victory over Glossop North End FC United take on Glossop North End in the Manchester Premier Cup at Broadhurst Park on Tuesday evening and manager Karl Marginson is demanding a victory from his players but he knows it will be tough.

Glossop are currently in good form and are second in the Northern Premier League Division One North, which is two divisions below the Reds. As such, they will expect to give FC United a good game.

Margy said: "Given the run that Glossop North End have been on I expect a difficult match. We saw on Saturday at Sporting Khalsa that so-called lower league teams can raise their game in the cup and I expect tonight to be no different.

"After another win in the league on Saturday, Glossop’s confidence will be high and we will need to be on the top of our game to get a result. This might be one of the minor cup competitions but anyone who knows me knows that I always want to win and the side that crosses that white line tonight will be expected to get us into the next round."

The two teams have met competitively twice before, back in FC United’s second season. The Reds came away with two convincing victories; 8-0 at Gigg Lane and 4-1 at Ewen Fields. Margy will want more of the same on Tuesday night.

FC United versus Glossop North End is this Tuesday at Broadhurst Park with a kick-off time of 7.45pm. It’s pay on the gate, as usual.
