International call up for Kurt Willoughby

International call up for Kurt WilloughbyKurt Willoughby has become the first current FC United player to be called up by England after today being named in manager Paul Fairclough’s 16-man England C squad for the international against Estonia U23’s, which will take place at Leyton Orient’s Breyer Group Stadium on Wednesday 10 October, 7:45pm.

Formed in 1979 as the England Non-League team, it features players who play for clubs outside the Football League. Currently, the majority of selected players are full-time professionals with National League clubs.

Kurt revealed that news of his call-up had left him speechless. When sufficiently recovered he was able to say: “Wow, that’s a surprise! It’s something I’ve heard about and watched, and I’m really excited and honoured to have been called up to the England C team. It will be a great experience and I can’t wait to get there”.

Interim manager Dave Chadwick, added “This is brilliant news for Kurt and it just goes to show that his hard work this season hasn’t gone unnoticed. It again shows the opportunities players can get on a higher platform in football while playing for FC United”.

Tickets for the game are available from Wednesday 26 September priced at just £5 for adults and FREE for U18s and over 65s.
