Please note the change of date from the original announcement
We’ve received a very special invitation to play a friendly against
Bishop Auckland on Saturday 28 July 2012 to mark their 125th anniversary.
Many FC United fans will know the historical link between Manchester United and Bishop Auckland, because they lent United three players in the immediate aftermath of the Munich air crash in 1958: Derek Lewin, Warren Bradley and Bobby Hardisty.
Warren Bradley, went on to become a regular in the United first team and added to his amateur international status by becoming a full England international in the same season; a unique achievement. Bobby Hardisty also won 15 England caps but perhaps more relevant considering the timing of this friendly, is that he represented Great Britain at three Olympic Games, once as captain and twice as assistant manager.
Further details about this friendly will be announced nearer the time.
