FC United's Food Hub sends donations to Ukraine

Items ready to be sent
Donations ready to be sent

Having seen the tragic events sadly develop in Ukraine and seen the poor families fleeing across the border to Poland, we spoke to our colleagues in the coalition of kindness. We made contact with Veterans in Action who will be delivering vital supplies to the Polish border by Saturday morning, the 5th March. On Thursday 3rd March we completely filled our first van with items such as soap, nappies, sanitary products, porridge pots, pot noodles, and energy bars. Alongside this, we also supplied vitamins, baby wipes, new towels, soft toys, and various items of easily prepared food. This will be delivered to a central Manchester address on Thursday, palleted and wrapped on the same night and flown to Poland on Friday. From there, it is expected to arrive at the Poland/Ukraine border on Saturday lunchtime. This will be distributed to the refugees on Saturday afternoon.

Donations in the van

Our team of Food Volunteers came in on Wednesday and an early Thursday shift to ensure that the items were ready for collection by Thursday lunchtime. Despite the short notice, we had donations form FC United members and Food Hub volunteers themselves.

This is our first contribution to help alleviate the crisis. Over the coming weeks we hope to provide further much needed support.
