FC United strengthen squad ahead of trip to Nuneaton

FC United manager Karl Marginson has added to his squad ahead of the Reds’ trip to league leaders Nuneaton.

United have slipped to second from bottom in the Vanarama National League North after seven consecutive defeats, whilst our opponents have risen to the top of the table. As such, it looks like a very tough afternoon awaits for the Reds.

After giving a debut to ex-Chorley midfielder Harry Winter last week, Margy has strengthened his squad further by signing Chester midfielder George Thomson on a temporary 30-day transfer.

Thomson previously played against FC United last season for Kings Lynn, where he scored 22 goals for the Norfolk side.

The 23-year-old started his career at Nottingham Forest, but moved into non-league with Hinckley and Histon. He signed for Chester in January this year. His playing registration has been transferred to FC United until 20th December 2015.

Meanwhile, midfielder Sam Sheridan is carrying a knock and will face a late fitness taste whilst striker Rory Patterson is undergoing extra training to get back in shape after a couple of months out of football.

Nuneaton will hope to give a debut to former West Ham United and Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood, who has just signed a one-year contract with the club.

The first ever meeting between Nuneaton Town and FC United takes place this Saturday with a two o’clock kick off - an hour earlier than normal due to issues with floodlights. It’s pay on the gate, just as football should be. Get yourself to that football ground.
