FC United fly the flag for Manchester in European cup final

FC United are the only men's first team from Manchester still in European cup competition this season after booking our place in the inaugural Fenix Trophy Final in Rimini, Italy on Saturday 11 June by beating Brera FC 2-1 at Broadhurst Park on Wednesday night.

Josh Askew and Josh Galloway got the goals just over 15 minutes into both halfs before Karim Abo El Ata pulled one back for the Milanese visitors in the 64th minute. The result means that the Reds top Group B with a 100% record and they will wait to discover who will win Group A and a place in the final.

Roman side Lodigiani Calcio 1972 currently top the group with two games to go, but the three other sides - Prague Raptors, CD Cuenca-Mestallistes (from Valencia), and HFC Falke (Hamburg) - can all still qualify for the final as Group A reaches an exciting climax this month.

Full report to follow.
