FC United bounce back by hitting Scarborough for six

FC United put Saturday's 5-2 defeat at Stalybridge Celtic firmly behind them by beating Scarborough Athletic 6-0 in front of 1,457 supporters at Broadhurst Park on Tuesday night with goals from Cedric Main, Charlie Ennis, Regan Linney, Bradley Holmes, and Matty Rain.

The Reds were hurting and needed to respond from the weekend's disappointment with a good performance – they did that and then some. Three goals in each half saw the North Yorkshire visitors put to the sword as Neil Reynolds' side delivered one of their finest ever displays.

Main got the party started with the opening goal inside four minutes and then two goals within quick succession for the Reds from Ennis and another from Main virtually sealed the contest before half-time. If the three points weren't guaranteed at the interval, they were 11 minutes into the second half when Linney went through one-on-one, rounded goalkeeper Ryan Whitley and slid the ball home for 4-0.

With 17 minutes to go, the Reds made it five. Blackpool teenage loanee Holmes scored his third goal in four days with another fantastic solo run and finish. Rain then completed the rout with six minutes to go when he slammed home the ball from a tight angle after good hold up play from Ennis to make it 6-0.
