FC United of Manchester are delighted to announce that Harry Winter will captain the club for the 2018/19 season.
The combative midfielder returned to Broadhurst Park this summer after a two-year stint at our first opponents of the season Stockport County.
Stephen O’Halloran has been chosen as Vice-Captain. Stephen has also joined United from Stockport County after starting his career at Aston Villa.
Player-Manager Tom Greaves has explained the reason behind his decision:
“I’m delighted to announce Harry Winter as club captain ahead of FC United’s 2018/19 season, Harry is a player who knows the club inside and out and knows exactly what it means to wear the badge. He’s a leader and an inspiration to all his teammates on and off the pitch. I know he will get the best out of every player to pull on the shirt this season as well as run through brick walls himself for the team and fans.
Stephen O’Halloran will be Harry’s vice captain, again another natural fit for a player who leads by example, he’s the first into training and the last to leave, a player who has played at the highest level and someone who all his team mates look up to and respect.???
Harry and Stephen have spoken of their pride in being named Captain and Vice-Captain respectively. Winter said “Very proud and privileged to captain a great club, it’s a honour to represent the club on the pitch that has values and put the fans first!???
O’Halloran said “I can’t wait to get the season going now! It’s a great club with great fans and I’m looking forward to helping the team progress this season!???
