Capacity and ticket arrangements for games against Legends and Bury AFC

Since the government’s announcement on Monday, we have been in discussions with Manchester City Council, the League and other clubs to clarify what our capacity and food and drink offering can be before the new easing of lockdown on Monday 19th July.

We have been informed by the Council that Step 3 arrangements must remain in place. These arrangements relate to how we operate our Main Stand and the St Mary’s Road End. In summary we're having to introduce the following arrangements:

For the Legends game on Saturday 26th June our capacity will be 1,630 – we will have food and drink available from all of the usual outlets including a new bar in the West Stand. For ticketing information see below.

For the Bury AFC on Saturday 3rd July the capacity is set at 1,860 but without any food and drink available prior to or during the game. It’s really disappointing that we cannot sell food and drink but our capacity is reduced if we do and as we have now sold nearly 2,000 tickets for the fixture, it’s a choice between some fans being able to come and drink and some fans not being able to come at all.

Our priority is access to affordable football so we have made this choice on this basis. We will be opening both the SMRE and the main function room following the match but these will be ticketed. Details to follow.

For both the above fixtures – and for all fixtures until the complete easing of restrictions – we require all of our fans to follow social distancing guidelines. Not doing so has health risks and has potentially damaging consequences for the club if we are subsequently punished for running events improperly.

Please spread out. Respect social distances. Wash hands regularly. Wear face masks if you would like to. Listen to and respect our stewards and matchday teams.

What happens with the Legends game?
1,600 tickets for the Legends game will go on sale online via our website at 7pm on Monday 21st June. Tickets can be collected from the stadium any afternoon from Tuesday to Friday. We encourage as many fans as possible to collect from the stadium so that we do not have to issue 1,600 via the ticket office on the day of the match.

Any uncollected tickets will of course be available to collect them from the ticket office in the Academy building at the Lightbowne Road entrance to the ground from 12:30.

Tickets will not be available to collect from the main reception in the stadium itself. A further 30 will be made available for purchase at the stadium on Friday 25th June for those who are unable to purchase tickets online.

Food and drink will be available in a similar fashion to last season. Supporters will be able to buy food and drink from any of our outlets but this must be consumed while seated. Seating will be available in the Main Stand, North Stand and West Stand as well as in the main function room and SMRE bars. Drinking on the SMRE terrace will not be allowed.

What will happen with the Bury AFC game?
Tickets for the Bury AFC game are available for collection from the ticket office next week. Please do collect your tickets if you can during the week. There is no food and drink available for this fixture so if you are taking refreshments on board elsewhere and arriving at the stadium at 2.55pm to collect your ticket there will be a long queue and we can’t guarantee that you will see the start of the game.

If you have not already purchased a ticket for this game then you will not be able to attend. There will be no pay on the gate and any tickets which are returned will not be re-issued.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we wait for things to get back to how we all want them to be.
