Big Coat Day December 2021

BCD 2021

Our annual Big Coat Day is the club’s longest serving community project which will take place again this year, making it the 17th winter in a row we have helped Manchester’s most vulnerable people. This year, Big Coat Day’s main collection will be on Saturday 4th December at our home game against Whitby Town. This year we have brought it forward to ensure we can distribute the donations to those who need them the most ahead of the cold winter months.

Big Coat Day is back to normal this year and we are asking supporters to bring donations to the Main Stand Player’s Entrance from 11am onwards before the Whitby Town game. Donations can also be brought to the Food Hub at Broadhurst Park during its regular hours of operation, anytime between now and Big Coat Day. These hours are:

  • Monday and Thursday 10am-3pm
  • Friday 8am-4pm

If desired, donations can be dropped off outside of these hours by bringing them to the main reception at Broadhurst Park during working hours, but please phone ahead to arrange drop off on 0161 769 2005.

We will be working with both Cresta Cars and Master Moves to distribute your generous donations to charities across Manchester. We are very grateful for their continued partnership with our community projects.

For any individual who wishes to donate but cannot make it to Broadhurst Park, we will be operating the Wishlist again. This is also an opportunity for those who do not have items to donate but still wish to support Big Coat Day. The list contains a number of items that do not usually get donated in large quantities, and those that are required to be new for hygiene purposes. They will be dispatched straight to Broadhurst Park and added to the other donations for distribution. You can access the Wishlist here: https://tinyurl.com/BigCoatDay2021

We will be partnering with a variety of projects and charities to help distribute the clothes to those who need them the most, both in our city and beyond. As we approach the winter months, there is greater need for winter clothing amongst our community across Manchester. Let’s make this year bigger and better than ever!

We are asking supporters for donations of warm clothes. Please spend some time checking your wardrobes for the following items:

  • Warm clothing (eg jumpers, big coats etc)
  • Sturdy footwear (eg hiking shoes, trainers etc)
  • Hiking attire
  • Ruck sacks/backpacks
  • Sleeping bags
  • Gloves/hats/scarves
  • Belts
  • Waterproofs
  • NEW socks
  • NEW underwear
  • NEW thermals
  • Toiletries (sanitary products, toothpaste, toothbrushes and wet wipes)

New volunteers are always welcome, if you would like to get involved or require any further information, please contact our Community Liaison Officer Vinny Thompson on: vinny.thompson@fc-utd.net
