Announcement : David Chadwick and Paul Chapman

As revealed to club members via the official forum on Thursday 16th June, we have announced that David Chadwick and Paul Chapman will not be joining up with the club’s management team for the 2022/23 season.

The club would like to say thank you to both men for the years of service they have given to the club, on the coaching side and in Chaddy’s case as a legendary captain.

First team manager and Head of Football, Neil Reynolds, said: “I'm determined to do everything in my power to ensure the team finishes in as high a position as possible in the new season and have chosen to deploy the limited resources available to me in a different way this year.

"Last season there were times due to injuries we couldn't fill the substitute bench with fit players, and in many games we had to play people out of position to fill the gaps, including seven different players to cover right back. We had numerous central defensive line-ups as we played six different players in that key area.

“I want to ensure that we've got some depth to the squad, and therefore need to ensure the budget is utilised in a way that means that injuries and suspensions don't critically impact our ability to compete.

“This has been a difficult decision though, and I want to pay tribute to Chaddy and Chappy and thank them for everything they have done over the years – of course we all wish them the very best for their next move in football.”

In response, David Chadwick said "I'd just like to say a big thank you to the fans as always they are the heart of the club and have been amazing throughout.

“I want to start the season correctly and be ready if any exciting opportunities become available."

Club chair Adrian Seddon added: “The word legend is often used in football but it really does apply to David Chadwick who has been around FC United for most of its existence.

“He and Chappy have been an integral part of our coaching team for many years and of course everyone will be sorry to see them go.
“On behalf of the board, club employees, co-owners and all our supporters I’d like to say thank you to David and Paul for everything they’ve done for FC United and join Neil in wishing them the best of luck for the future.”
