A look back on the weekends match: The ’Renolution’ starts nowAfter a battling point in his first game in charge over the weekend we take a closer look at how Neil Reynolds new look side fared.

Life in the National League North started off with a bang for our new boss with honours even in an eventful 1-1 draw at home to inform Brackley Town.

With having 25 years of experience as a player and manager, Reynolds has already shown the qualities that he has in a management role at former club Bamber Bridge.

Reynolds guided them to a number of successes during his time at the Sir Tom Finney stadium, such as leading them to promotion to the Northern Premier League in his first season and victory in the Integro League Cup in the 16/17 season.

During his first week at FC, the gaffer wasted no time making efforts to improve the squad, bringing in central midfielder Mike Potts as well as Josh Wallen to strengthen the side.

Saturday was a great point to start the reign of ’Reno’ in what was an entertaining game, with both sides battling it out in an end to end contest. The visitors who made the trip were in a great run of form but Reynolds tactical changes managed to quell their attacking threat, with FC being on top for large parts of the match.

Potts – who was making his first team debut for the club – did not take long to adapt to wearing the armband, as he unleashed a sweet strike from the edge of the box into the top right hand corner in the opening few minutes of the match. Along with a solid performance, there is plenty of excitement around the new box to box midfielder.

His contender for goal of the season was however cancelled out later in the match by a quick set piece which seen James Armson smash home for Brackley on the hour mark to level the game out.
Jack Bannister did come close towards the later stages of the game but was denied by a great reflex save from Brackley goalkeeper Smith. Despite chances for both sides towards the end of the game, the match ended level.

Our next three fixtures come against teams in the bottom half, meaning Reynolds will be looking for his side to kick on and produce another excellent team performance.

On the whole it was a great point against good opposition – who now sit seventh in the league – with our lads looking a lot more organised and aggressive in their game.

Reynolds frustration not to take all 3 points was clear at the final whistle. Throwing his hands in the air, showing the supporters his desire and more importantly, a winning mentality.

With clear signs of improvement within the side, the buzz has been brought back to Broadhurst Park again, with the new manager in the dugout, and some fresh faces… the ’Renolution’ has begun.
