Match Report
FC youth returned to County Cup action today playing Unicorn Athletic at Smith’s Field, Timperley and leaving with a 3-1 win courtesy of first half goals from Samm Howell, Matthew Hassall and Kial Callacher. A second half penalty provided a consolation for the home side.

Sam Howell opened the scoring in the sixth minute, firing across the home goalkeeper and in at the far post after being set up by Connor Naughton. Matthew Hassall was rewarded for his terrier like persistence as he burst into the box after sixteen minutes and scored at the second or third attempt. Kial Callacher scored with a far post header from a corner just after half an hour.

A penalty was awarded to the home side midway through the second half for a tackle which appeared from the touch line to have won the ball but was adjudged to have also made contact with the player, however there were few complaints at the award and the kick was drilled smartly into the corner of the net.

Theo Kidd thought he had scored a fourth for FC after being played in behind the back of the home defence. His shot lashed into the net was disallowed for offside.
