FC United of Manchester Academy ’B’ team briefly commenced their ECFA/AoC North West Men’s Regional Invitation League (Central) season 2020-21 campaign with a 3-5 reverse against the Pro Direct Academy Manchester Elite Shadow team at Platt Lane, Fallowfield on Wednesday morning.

The home side took the lead on 15 minutes, and worse was to follow on 28 minutes when OBAID ZAZAI added a second from the penalty spot despite FC United keeper Drayke Holland getting a hand to it.

A mere 18 seconds after the half time interval and Pro Direct Academy went 3-0 up almost straight from the restart and it might have been four on 54 minutes but for a fine save by Drayke Holland from Obaid Zazai’s second penalty kick of the morning.

The fourth goal eventually came for the home side on 63 minutes before JOHNNIE JOHNSON finally got FC United on the scoresheet with a hooked shot from inside the penalty area a minute later on 64 minutes.

The home side then added their fifth goal shortly afterwards from yet another penalty kick. Drayke Holland managed to parry OBAID ZAZAI’s 12 yard kick, but the home No. 10 was first to react to steer home the loose ball.

The visitors then pulled one back on 74 minutes when SHERIFF KABBA deftly headed home from a Yann Daryl Tchokotcheu left wing cross and there was still time for another on 86 minutes when IBERE BARUMIRE dispossessed a home defender before taking the ball forward to make the final score 3-5.

Whilst being permitted to continue training, implementation of the latest National lockdown just 24 hours later means that the next FC United of Manchester Academy team league fixtures will now not be until January 2021.
