PRESTON NORTH END YOUTH MYERSCOUGH 3 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 2
The FC United of Manchester Youth team went agonizingly close to snatching a share of the points following this narrowest of defeats by two goals to three against Preston North End Youth (Myerscough) at Myerscough College on Wednesday afternoon in the National League u19 Alliance.

The home side got off to an excellent start on just four minutes. NATHAN FEENEY’s free kick from 25 yards arrowing into the top corner past a helpless Mason Walker.

After a delay caused by a change of referee during the half time interval, second half play eventually resumed with Preston North End then going 2-0 up on 53 minutes, as SAM NICHOLSON’s shot from the edge of the area rebounded over the line via the base of a post.

On 56 minutes, FC United pulled one back, Connor Melling’s long through ball finding MASON BEARD, who managed to lift the ball over the onrushing Preston ’keeper Joel Shaw and into the unguarded home net.

A glancing header from HARRIS TOMLINSON on 64 minutes from a Jack Camarda free kick made it 3-1, and looked to have made certain of the result for Preston North End.

But a late goal from ZAID BAROUDI on 86 minutes as he latched on to a long clearance from Mason Walker set up a nervy final few minutes for the home side, and FC United might have snatched an improbable equaliser when substitute Kelvin Amado headed wide in time added on.

The fixtures come thick and fast at this stage of the season and FC United of Manchester Youth team are back in league action again on Wednesday 4th December 2019 when they host Marine FC Youth (Broadhurst Park 3G - KO 2 pm).
