A first half-hat-trick by Max Lewens helped the FC United of Manchester Youth Team to a well-deserved 4-1 away win against Maltby Main Youth at Sheffield Hallam Sports Park on Wednesday afternoon in their latest National League u19 Alliance ’J’ Division fixture.

The Young Reds opened the scoring after just 7 minutes when a poor clearance by the home ’keeper rebounded off the onrushing MAX LEWENS and into the unguarded goal.

On 22 minutes, it was 2-0. A cross from the left from Harry Kershaw was deflected goalwards by Nelson Onwusiri and MAX LEWENS was well positioned to force the ball over the line.

On 38 minutes, MAX LEWENS added a third to complete his hat-trick, as he expertly curled home a low shot from a Mason Gregg through ball.

Into the second half and FC United of Manchester extended their advantage on 63 minutes when MASON GREGG headed home a Steve Affleck free kick from four yards out.

Maltby Main pulled one back on 76 minutes when LEWIS SZANTO took advantage of a mix-up in the FC United defence to make the final score 1-4 to the visitors.
