FC United of Manchester Academy 'A' team recorded a creditable 3-2 away win against iSports FC Rochdale in Wednesday's AoC Sport NW Men's Football Championship Invitational league fixture at the Rochdale RUFC ground.

For the first half hour, the FC Academy lads soaked up a lot of pressure from the iSports FC Rochdale team with some good defending and great saves from Lucas Wolstencroft in the visitors' goal. At the other end, they also had some attacking moves of their own, with a shot from Emmanuel Johnson going into the side netting.

On 31 minutes, Rafa Jalo was booked for a foul, reflecting FC's commitment to defending. There was also some great defending from Harry Martin, but on 39 minutes, iSports had the ball in the net. However, the referee ruled the home player to be offside, and so the goal didn't stand.

Just two minutes later, Dyllan Clarke suffered an Achilles injury, and had to be replaced.

Just before half time, a clumsy challenge by an FC United defender resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team, which goalkeeper Lucas Wolstencroft only just failed to keep out.

A series of substitutions around the hour mark helped to revitalise the FC United cause; shortly thereafter RENATO NEVES getting the visitors on the scoresheet following a brilliant 67th minute solo run.

iSports might then have restored their lead on 70 minutes, again from the penalty mark, but this time their spot kick was fired wide.

Despite being reduced to ten men with 15 minutes remaining after Callum Morris saw red, FC United nevertheless were able to edge in front some 7 minutes later, LEWIS URSA capitalising on an error by a home defender.

Four minutes from time, a long range free kick from EMMANUEL JOHNSON made it 3-1, and despite iSports pulling one back in the dying moments, FC  United held on for a well deserved win.
