Match Report
"All we are saying is give us a goal", pleaded the fans behind goalkeeper Phil Priestley’s net as FC United warmed up for a local derby with Flixton, the club’s fourth pre-season friendly following a 2-0 defeat to Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic.

Playing against a team from their own division for the first time FC United finally found the back of the net. Stricker Steve Torpey opened the club’s account with an arrowed left footed effort from distance on the way to a 5-2 victory - the club’s first.

The early fears are gone and judging by the smiles on everyone’s faces at Hilton Park, Kingsmeadow, Bower Fold and Valley Road, FC United are here to stay – the support for the club exists and it exists in abundance. And without that support a football club, especially ours, is worthless, soulless, a shell.

But with it FC United of Manchester hope to make sure that the wishes of United supporters are never ignore again. We’ve got the opportunity – now it’s up to us.
