FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 3 UCFB XI 4
Monday morning's match on the Broadhurst Park 3G was a well matched challenge match between the FC United of Manchester Youth team and a UCFB XI; which the students from the Etihad stadium narrowly won by four goals to three.
RAEECE ELLINGTON opened the scoring for the visitors on 3 minutes when he rounded trialist home 'keeper Paul Cooper before netting.
The same player, RAEECE ELLINGTON then added a second on 32 minutes with a well taken low shot.
A snap shot by SHERIFF KABBA on 36 minutes, which the visiting keeper couldn't quite keep out, reducedthe arrears for the Young Reds before a superbly taken equaliser by FAVOUR BOLAJI on 42 minutes from a Christian Edokpayi assist made the half-time score 2-2.
On 56 minutes, former FC United youth team player DYLAN BLACKLEDGE restored the visitors' lead for a short while before the home side drew level once again on 70 minutes as SHERIFF KABBA headed home, this time from a Christian Edokpayi cross.
The deciding goal came on 81 minutes from the penalty spot. A home player was adjudged to have pulled an opponent's shirt just inside the eighteen yard box, and RAEECE ELLINGTON made no mistake with the resultant spot kick.
Although the home side may well be disappointed with the final score, it nevertheless represents a vast improvement on the result when the same two teams previously met in late September 2020.
