FC United of Manchester Youth team recorded their opening win of the 2020-21 season at the third attempt in the National League u19 Alliance ’H’ Division with this well deserved 4-2 home win against Rochdale AFC EDS Youth on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

The Young Reds opened the scoring after just 4 minutes with JACK BENNETT bundling home an inswinging Mason Beard corner from the left.

Shortly afterwards, Kelvin Amado twice went close to adding to the scoreline, before ALEX YATES eventually did so, by curling home the second on 21 minutes after being set up by Sandro Da Costa.

Rochdale’s Alfie Lally nearly pulled one back for the visitors on 53 minutes with a long range free kick from the half way line, before KELVIN AMADO made it 3-0 for FC United a minute later when he latched on to a Mason Beard header, before rounding the Rochdale ’keeper and rolling the ball into the unguarded net.

This third goal seemed to spur a response from the Rochdale side, and within a couple of minutes, DAMANI HALL had pulled one back for the visitors after a mazy run and a fine solo finish.

The same player, DAMANI HALL, then added a second on 63 minutes when a dangerous corner somehow rebounded off his shoulder and into the FC United net, to edge the visitors back into contention.

But just when it looked as if Rochdale might grab a late share of the points, home substitute JERMAINE KITOKO made sure of the final result on 77 minutes when he netted comfortably following a nicely weighted pass from Sandro Da Costa.

The result leaves FC United with three points from their opening three fixtures, and Rochdale with just one, also from three games.

With no league fixture next week, the FC United of Manchester Youth team are next expected to be in action on Thursday 22nd October 2020, when they are scheduled to host Litherland REMYCA u18s in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Challenge Cup.
