The FC United of Manchester Youth team slumped to a 0-4 home defeat against Gateshead FC Youth in their latest National League u19 Alliance ’J’ Division league on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

Prospects for the Young Reds weren’t enhanced by conceding an opening goal after just three minutes; Gateshead’s LEWIS McGEOCH netting at the third attempt.

The same player then added a second for the visitors on 36 minutes when he slotted home from the edge of the six yard box before OWEN BREARTON made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time when he lofted the ball over Sulaiman Sajjad in the FC United goal.

Gateshead captain DAN BENNETT rounded off the scoring on 81 minutes when he crashed the ball into the roof of the net after the home side had failed to clear a corner.

The result leaves Gateshead Youth three points behind FC United of Manchester Youth in the Division ’J’ league table but with three games in hand.

The two teams meet again, this time at the International Stadium, Gateshead, on Wednesday 4th April 2018.
