FC United of Manchester’s Academy Team concluded their pre-season programme with this 5-2 home friendly match win against Liverpool FC Foundation Football College Men’s 1sts on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.


BEN FLETCHER opened the scoring for the home side on 26 minutes when finished at the second attempt from a lofted Leo Elvin free-kick.

Six minutes later the visitors grabbed an equaliser when centre-half CAMERON AKBULUT netted inside the six yard box from a long free-kick.

On 43 minutes, FC United’s academy team regained the lead when LEWIS UNWIN got on to the end of a Haydon Mottershead set piece.

Two minutes into the second half, and it was 2-2 when Liverpool’s JAMES JENKINS headed home from close range.

But the home side went back in front on 49 minutes, when MASON GREGG beat the offside trap to net comfortably to make the score 3-2.

On 55 minutes, BEN TAMILA scored from the penalty spot after a Liverpool defender had handled inside the area to make it 4-2.

And on 70 minutes, CAMERON BOLAND made sure of the result when he burst through the visitors’ defence to make the final score 5-2.

FC United of Manchester’s Academy Team are scheduled to commence their ECFA college league campaign with a visit to Oldham College on Wednesday 21st September 2016.
