FC United of Manchester’s Academy ’A’ team went down to a heavy 2-7 home defeat at the hands of fleet-footed FC Halifax Town’s u17s on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

The initial goal came on 11 minutes when the visitors’ CAIN TELFORD was left free to side-foot home the opener.

Two minutes later it was 0-2, as the same player, CAIN TELFORD, converted from a right wing cross.

On 39 minutes, it was 0-3 as the impressive CAIN TELFORD completed a first half hat-trick, this time from a left wing cross.

ETHAN CROSSLEY added another on 41 minutes when he was first to a loose ball, to give FC Halifax Town u17s a well-deserved four goal half-time lead.

Into the second half and JACOB McLAUGHLIN made it five-nil on 55 minutes when he slid home from another left wing cross.

CHRISTIAN EDOKPAYI pulled one back for the Young Reds on 59 minutes when he was allowed to run in unopposed at the visitors’ goal.

OWEN THOMAS restored the Young Shaymen’s five goal advantage with a crisp low shot on 63 minutes to make it 1-6.

JACK WHEATLEY added a seventh with a long range effort that somehow evaded replacement home ’keeper Lenny Fieldhouse on 85 minutes, before FC United substitute OSMAN AGGERSO completed the scoring with a second consolation goal for the home side on 86 minutes to make the final score 2-7.
