Match Report
FC UNITED of MANCHESTER ACADEMY TEAM 0 CURZON ASHTON YOUTH 6

FC United’s academy team opened their pre-season campaign with a somewhat disappointing 0-6 home reverse against near neighbours Curzon Ashton on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

The visitors opened the scoring on 18 minutes when RICH ATTA netted after FC United goalkeeper Adib Badri had only been able to half-stop a net-bound shot, and then ATTA added a second on 26 minutes with a low shot under the home ’keeper from 12 yards out.

On 35 minutes, Curzon Ashton Youth went 3-0 up with a long range shot (arguably the goal of the game) from their centre-half OLLIE THORNLEY and four minutes later it was 4-0 when DEC BUTLER lobbed the ’keeper from close range.

In the second half, Curzon changed their entire playing eleven and FC United also made a number of changes to their line-up with home substitute Kamahl Fuller coming close with two decent goalbound efforts, before the visitors made sure of the final result late on when JOE NUTTALL netted from close range on 83 minutes and JACK POPE who rounded the ’keeper before adding the sixth on 85 minutes.
