FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ team went down 4-6 at home to Chester FC Academy on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Tuesday afternoon in their opening pre-season fixture.

The visitors came storming back into the game after going three down inside the opening 22 minutes.

FC United’s first goal came after 14 minutes when NIALL WEBB’s effort crossed the goal line despite the best efforts of Chester FC ’keeper Jamie King to keep it out.

A minute later it was 2-0 when KAI O’NEILL drilled a low shot home after being set up nicely by Kane Stockley.

And on 22 minutes, it was goalscorer turned provider as a pinpoint Kai O’Neill pass found ABDUL MUKTADIR who made no mistake from the edge of the goal area to make it 3-0.

At this point, Chester FC rallied and pulled one back on 28 minutes when the livewire REGAN RUBIN headed home from a cross from the right wing from Danny Edwards.

On 32 minutes, the same player, REGAN RUBIN added a second to make it 3-2 when he beat two players before scoring.

On 40 minutes, TOM RUFFER made it 3-3 when he sent Tom Bamber the wrong way from the penalty spot after Chester FC’s Oliver Holt had been impeded just inside the penalty area.

And on 45 minutes, DANNY EDWARDS put the visitors in front with a low shot from an extremely acute angle.

Into the second half, Chester FC’s WILL GOODWIN extended the Cestrians’ advantage to two goals netting from close range on 70 minutes to make it 5-3 to the visitors.

Substitute MASON BEARD then pulled one back, moments later, for FC United before WILL GOODWIN added his second on 87 minutes to make sure of the final result, 6-4 in favour of Chester FC Academy.
