FC United of Manchester Academy 'A' team came out on top by the odd goal in five following Friday afternoon's development fixture against the Macclesfield FC Academy 1sts on the Broadhurst Park 3G.
In an end-to-end opening half hour, the home side opened the scoring on just three minutes. George Kamara sending in a low cross from the left, and ALEX CANNING was best placed to slot the ball home when it wasn't cleared properly.
A couple of minutes later, it was 2-0. ALEX CANNING finishing well from a Harry Hope corner.
Macclesfield then countered in the tenth minute. A back header in the home penalty area found the visitors' No. 8 who blasted the ball high past Lucas Wolstencroft.
What was to prove to be the deciding goal came on 28 minutes. An overhead effort by ALEX CANNING who lifted the ball over the Macclesfield 'keeper, to complete a remarkable first-half hat-trick for the FC United No. 2.
Macclesfield then pulled one back through their No. 14 on 32 minutes, but the nearest the visitors then got to a second half equaliser was a curling 48th minute free kick that hit an upright before being cleared.
