FC United of Manchester Academy 'A' team edged the narrowest of victories with this 4-3 home win against the Macclesfield FC International Academy in Friday's latest Development fixture on the Broadhurst Park 3G.
CHARLIE HOWARTH opened the scoring for the FC United academy team with a deftly taken fourth minute header from a Kieran Newton cross from the right.
Macclesfield might have drawn level on 13 minutes but their No. 9's "goal" was disallowed for an infringement in the build-up.
Two minutes later, FC United went 2-0 up, TAYLOR McDOWELL collecting the ball in central midfield before advancing towards goal and firing home.
On 25 minutes, the visitors pulled one back. A free kick was only parried by first half 'keeper George Kamara and the Macclesfield No. 9 was on hand to bundle the loose ball home.
Less than 60 seconds later, it was 2-2, the same Macclesfield player intercepting the ball to bring the visitors back on level terms.
Worse was to follow early in the second half, as the Macclesfield FC International Academy took the lead through their No. 8 on 51 minutes.
A right wing cross-come-shot from FC United substitute DYLLAN CLARKE made it 3-3 on 72 minutes, this before Harry Hope set up GOLD BADMUS for what proved to be the winner on 80 minutes.
But it still needed a smart save from second half goalkeeper Rafa Jalo with just three minutes remaining to ensure that FC United were able to hang on to the win.
