FC United of Manchester Youth opened the New Year with a fine 2-1 home win against City of Liverpool Youth at the Heron Eccles Sports Ground in Allerton, Liverpool in Wednesday afternoon’s National League u19 Alliance Division ’H’ league fixture.

The home side went closest in the opening stages, first hitting an upright on 6 minutes and then Luke Partington striking the crossbar on 23 minutes.

It was perhaps no surprise when City of Liverpool Youth took the lead on 47 minutes, TYLER MAGEE evading the offside trap to quickly advance and then steer the ball past Lenny Fieldhouse in the FC United goal.

The visitors struck back almost immediately. Zaid Baroudi was fouled on the edge of the area and DYLAN BLACKLEDGE stepped up to curl the resultant free kick past home goalkeeper Ben Tinkley on 48 minutes.

Three minutes later and FC United deservedly snatched the lead, Zaid Baroudi setting up GEORGE BARBOZA whose crisp low shot rifled into the corner of the goal.

The visiting defence then held on resolutely for the remainder of the game meaning that FC United would return back down the M62 with all three points.

Next Wednesday, FC United of Manchester host Wrexham Youth in another National League u19 Alliance Division ’H’ league fixture, Venue: Broadhurst Park 3G , Wednesday 15th January 2020, KO 1.00 p.m.
