THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION COMMUNITY SHIELD FUND

As a result of FC United’s participation in the First Round Proper of last year’s Emirates FA Cup, we were asked to nominate 3 local charities to receive a share of our £2000 that the FA Community Shield Fund distributed to us.

At half time during Saturday’s match a cheque will be presented to each of the 3 charitable organisations that FC United nominated to receive our club’s share of the fund. Representatives from Moston and District Sports and Youth Club (Moston Juniors), Talbot House Support Centre and Freedom From Torture will be present to receive their cheques.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

The process for distributing funds raised by The 2016 FA Community Shield for community-based initiative features the following components:

- The funds available for distribution include the general admission ticket income net of match expenses and all profits from the sale of the match programme.

- The 2016 FA Community Shield contribution to the fund amounted to 36% of the total match day income.

- Each competing club will be allocated an equal section of the fund to donate to community initiatives of its choice.

- A section of the fund will be allocated to the 124 eligible clubs (those clubs that participated from the First Round Proper of The FA Cup last season) to nominate up to three local charities or community based initiatives to receive its share of the fund.

- The remainder of the fund will be donated to charities which include the The Bobby Moore Fund, which, following a robust selection process, was chosen by the FA Community Shield Distribution Committee and FA Group staff to be The FA’s Official Charity Partner until July 2018. Additional charities that have received donations from the fund include Breast Cancer Care, The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the Royal British Legion.
