Nathan Lowe signs a contract to end of 2017/18 season

We are delighted to announce that before Saturday’s home match against Tamworth, Nathan Lowe signed a contract with the Club until the end of 2017/18 season - He then rounded off the day with a 94th minute, 35 yard screamer to give the Reds a vital 1-0 victory.

We are delighted to announce that before Saturday’s home match against Tamworth, Nathan Lowe signed a contract with the Club until the end of 2017/18 season. He then rounded off the day with a 94th minute, 35 yard screamer to give the Reds a vital 1-0 victory.

Nathan Lowe, who turns 21 later this month, joined the club in the summer of 2016 having been released from Burnley. As a trialist at FC he scored a sublime goal for the Reds in a pre-season match against Mossley, a game that also saw fellow Burnley trialist Jason Gilchrist bag a hat trick.

Lowe’s first team debut came on the very first match of the season away at Chorley where he came on a substitute. On his home debut he came off the subs bench to score 4 minutes from time to seal FC’s 2-0 win over Stockport County. Lowe appeared in all but 3 of FC’s first 16 matches, but a cartilage injury kept him out of the side for the following 13 games.

Lowe returned as a substitute on 1st January against Altrincham, and has featured in all but one match since. Lowe was back on the score sheet against Chorley at home in our recent 3-3 draw with goal from 25 yards out, and he followed this up by two exquisite long-range efforts in our 3-2 comeback away at Gloucester, he second from inside his own half. And to prove his goals from distance were no fluke he then scored arguable FC United’s best ever goal on Saturday against Tamworth.

Unfortunately Gloucester’s TV recording was corrupted on upload so only his 2nd goal from inside his own half remains.

Nathan Lowe, is now the fourth young player to have signed a contract with the club since the start of the season. In December FC United signed up of Kieran Glynn (19) and Mike Jones (18) (currently out through injury) followed by Jason Gilchrist (22) in January. All four players are contracted until the end of the 2017/18 season.

In addition, FC United have also given Jake Williams (22), Sam Baird (17) and Zac Corbett (20) opportunities to feature in the first team this season.

Jason Glichrist – appeared 36, scored 13
Nathan Lowe – appeared 23, scored 5
Kieran Glynn – appeared 22, scored 3
Jake Williams – appeared 19, scored 0
Zac Corbett – appeared 7, scored 0
Sam Baird – appeared 5, scored 0
Mike Jones – appeared 1, scored 0
